FELDSPAR is the name assigned to a category of alumina-silicate minerals that occur naturally include varying amounts of potassium, sodium, calcium and/or lithium. A good-quality feldspar commodity is calculated in combination with high alumina concentrations (AL2O3) and Alkali (K2O and Na2O) and low trace elements including iron (reported as Fe2O3 oxide). Alumina provides hardening, power and corrosion resistance while the alkaline serves as a flux that reduces ceramic body temperature throughout the firing phase.
